The SCUBA RANGERS Philosophy
To keep it simple and fun, we have designed the SCUBA RANGERS Star, which defines the five points of a successful SCUBA RANGER:

Proper Knowledge Rangers must learn the rules of responsible diving.
Proper Skills Rangers must learn and practice basic scuba skills.
Proper Equipment Rangers must learn to use basic scuba equipment, and should own snorkeling equipment, and properly maintain and care for all equipment.
Proper Experience Rangers should maintain diving proficiency, dive within their limits, and continue to learn more about scuba and water exploration.
Training Scuba Rangers begin out of the water, focusing on becoming comfortable with the idea of diving, and learning about breathing, helping peers, and becoming familiar with equipment.

Certification: Scuba Diver

The Scuba Diver program represents about 50% of the Open Water Diver program and leads to a recognized certification. It is suitable for those who prefer to dive at shallow depths under the supervision of an SSI Dive Professional or simply do not have enough time to finish the entire Open Water Diver training.

Certification Basic Freediving Freedivers

Requirements For Completion
-Complete academic sessions and assessments as outlined in the Basic Freediving Manual.
-Complete two (2) pool con ned water sessions, or one (1) pool/con ned water and one (1) open water session, and assessments as outlined in the Basic Freediving Manual.

Achieve the following performance requirements:
-Static and dynamic session in the water with no minimum requirement.
-Demonstrate proper breathe-up, relaxation, body positioning and surfacing techniques.
-Freedive with a dive line, or along a reef, using bi-fIns to maximum depth of FIve (5) meters, focusing on: relaxation, duck diving, equalisation, inning and surfacing techniques (optional).
-Perform a surface blackout rescue.

Edge Scuba was founded on 2014 with my 2 amazing kids, Aiden & Arianne. which inspired me to explore different methods of them being a safer Scuba Diver! Everyday is still a leaning curve.

Edge Scuba will tailor to all your individual needs, helping you to achieve the ultimate diving experience! With a passion for the ocean, naturally sea-sports has always been in my alley. From teaching wake-boarding, jet-ski racing around Asia to deep sea diving in the waters of Maldives, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

My journey as a scuba instructor has given me not only the opportunity to meet people around the world but deepen my appreciation for what Mother Nature has given this planet.

STUDENT WATER FITNESS EVALUATION & BASIC WATER SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Do I need to be an expert swimmer to take the basic open water diver certification?
No, a basic swimming knowledge is sufficient. More importantly, you should be comfortable in the water.

I've found some other dive centers who are cheaper, how come?
As for many other things, you usually get what you pay for. Different dive centers have different priorities in terms of instructor-to-student ratios, service quality, equipment, etc...
If in doubt, we suggest you pay a visit to the dive centers you've pre-selected, it will help you in your decision.

Can I dive if I wear prescription glasses?
Yes, you can scuba dive. You will either need to wear contact lenses or procure a dive mask equipped with prescrition lenses.

Do I need to be physically fit to scuba dive?
You need to be of "normal" health, but certain physical impairments do not prevent you from passing a diving certification. Upon registration, a brief medical questionnaire will help you assess if you can dive.

Do I have to purchase any equipment to take the open water diver certification?
No, dive equipment rental is provided as part of the open water course and included in the course price.

Basic Water Skills You Must Perform.

Overall Comfort In The Water
The goal of this evaluation is to determine students' baseline comfort level in the water. Some nervousness may be common, but as the course progresses, students should gain confidence in their equipment and in your abilities as a diver.

Swim Assessment
Swim 200 meters without any swim or buoyancy aids, or swim 300 meters using a mask, snorkel and fins. There is no time limit for this exercise, but it must be completed without stopping or standing.

Survival Float
Float or tread in water too deep to stand for ten (10) minutes. The student's face must remain clear of the water for the duration of the exercise.

MEDICAL HISTORY

Medical History Form
Each student must complete the SSI Medical History form prior to any in-water activity (or submit a valid medical statement). If the medical history form or the appearance/behavior of the student indicate any condition contrary to participation in any in-water activities, the student is required to secure medical approval by a licensed medical practitioner based on a medical examination prior to any in-water activity. The SSI Medical History forms of minors must be reviewed and signed by a parent or guardian prior to any in-water activity.
Medical History forms are valid for 12 months from the date they are signed. Students may participate in multiple SSI programs within the 12 months without completing another form. If an SSI student becomes ill or injured within the 12 months, the student must complete a new SSI Medical History form prior to any in-water activities and follow the same protocol outlined above.

SSI Dive Professional
Each candidate participating in professional-level training must provide to their SSI Service Center an SSI Medical History form or medical statement, approved and signed by a licensed medical practitioner, based on a diving medical examination, dated within one (1) year of the training completion date. The medical statement must be uploaded by the dive professional via ODiN for approval.
Active status SSI Dive Professionals are required to notify SSI if they develop a medical condition that interferes with their teaching ability. They must submit a new SSI Medical History form to their SSI Service Center to maintain their active status.

Dive Courses
Full payment is required upon booking confirmation of ALL Dive Course. All dive courses must be fully claimed within 4 months of receipt.
In the event that the dive course is not claimed within 4 months of receipt, it will be considered as a cancellation and there will be no refund. In the event that you wish to make a cancellation with regard to your course booking, the following terms apply:

Cancellation with 8 – 14 days notice – 50% to 85% of total fee.
Cancellation with 7 days or less notice – No Refund.

Postponement with 7 days or more notice – No Surcharge
Postponement with 6 days or less notice – S$80 Surcharge
Pool Lesson
Postponement with 7 days or more notice – No Surcharge

Change of trip date is allowed, with a minimum of 8 days or more notice prior to trip date, with an administrative charge of $80.

DIVE & Travel insurance
All dive courses and dive trips do not include insurances. Purchase of travel insurance is strongly recommended for scuba diving trips with respect to unforeseen circumstances such as trip cancellation, personal baggage loss, personal accident, injury, illness and insolvency. Under no circumstances shall the Service Provider to be construed as a carrier under contract for safe carriage of the Customer or his/her baggage/ belongings. The Service Provider will be pleased to assist in the enquiries of any travel insurance and related matters.

Passport Validity
It is the Customer’s sole responsibility to ensure that he/she has a valid passport with minimum 6 months’ validity from the date of the return point. Relevant visa and vaccinations may be required. For Singapore permanent residents, please bring along your existing permits when traveling.
